Retail Charges Update: 2026-27 Charging Year

There are upcoming changes to retail water and wastewater charges, effective from 1st April 2026.

At the start of each year, Scottish Water confirms its primary wholesale charges to Licensed Providers for the forthcoming tariff year (April to March). For Tariff Year 2026/27, Scottish Water has confirmed an increase 8.67% in primary wholesale charges. This increase will flow directly through to non-domestic customer’s bills.

Scottish Water has stated that this increase is necessary to maintain services and fund essential investment in infrastructure, including water mains and treatment works, in response to increasing system pressures such as extreme weather events, ageing assets, and rising demand.

In addition, the industry regulator the Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) publishes annual retail charging requirements through its Default Directions, which set the regulatory framework for retail charges. Our updated pricing, available now on our website (Customer Portal), reflects these changes.

    2026–29 Property Valuation Period

From 1st April 2026, new non-domestic Rateable Values (RVs) will come into effect for the 2026-29 property valuation period. These values are determined by the Local Assessor.

As some water and wastewater charges are calculated using the property’s Rateable Value, any change to the RV may affect charges from April 2026 onwards. The combined effect of the charge increase and updated Rateable Values may result in a noticeable change to customer bills. We strongly recommend customers review their updated Rateable Value via: www.saa.gov.uk

If customers believe their new Rateable Value is inaccurate, any appeal and supporting evidence must be submitted directly to their Local Assessor. Please note we are unable to lodge or manage valuation appeals on behalf of customers.
